Autonomous Navigation of Service Robots
Currently, mobile robots use LiDAR sensors and 3D depth cameras for autonomous navigation. LiDAR has a wide horizontal field of view, but its vertical field of view is very narrow, so it struggles to identify potholes or stairs close to the robot. To get a wide vertical field of view, it needs extra solutions. This is why many use both LiDAR sensors and 3D depth cameras.
ArgosVue can recognize potholes and bumps on the road as well as surrounding obstacles with a field of view LiDAR-like wide horizontally and 5 times wider than that of 3D LiDAR sensors vertically. It enables autonomous navigation of robots in many different and complicated indoor and outdoor environments at a lower cost.
